Armed assailants fatally shoot 10 individuals and injure one in a Plateau community
Unidentified gunmen have taken the lives of 10 individuals and injured one in the Kulben community of the Gindiri District, located in the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau.
According to Mr. Jerry Datim, a resident of the community, the tragic incident transpired on Sunday night. He relayed this information to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Monday.
"Approximately at 8:40 p.m. last night, a group of armed assailants launched an attack on the Kulben community, resulting in the loss of 10 lives and injuring one individual."
"Criminals infiltrated the village, opening fire indiscriminately. Panic ensued as residents sought refuge, but tragically, some lost their lives to the gunfire, their bodies discovered later.
"We promptly notified the authorities, but regrettably, the attackers had already fled the community," he explained.
DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, could not be reached for comment.
Nevertheless, a high-ranking police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, informed reporters that the command had initiated a manhunt to apprehend the assailants and subject them to legal consequences.
