ABU 500-Level Student Stabs Teenager to Death in Connection with Sexual Interest
Abdullahi Ibrahim, a 500-level student of Veterinary Medicine at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, has been apprehended for allegedly stabbing a teenager to death over sexual interest, as confirmed by the Bauchi State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The NSCDC Commandant, Ilelaboye Oyejide, disclosed the arrest during a press briefing in Bauchi on Sunday. The victim, Umar Usman, a secondary school student from Misau, was found lifeless and wrapped in a white cloth at Misau bypass on October 23.
Oyejide described the incident as a case of culpable homicide and mentioned that the suspect was swiftly arrested in the Misau Local Government Area. The deceased was taken to the General Hospital, Misau, where he was certified dead and handed over to the family for burial.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that there was a communication chat between the suspect and the deceased, involving enticement with homosexual love and the display of naked pictures. The confrontation between them allegedly led to the stabbing, and the suspect confessed to the crime.
The NSCDC commandant mentioned that the suspect claimed self-defense, stating that the deceased approached him with a knife, resulting in a struggle that led to the fatal stabbing. The suspect, out of fear, admitted to wrapping the body in a cloth and dumping it along the bypass. The NSCDC stated that the suspect would be charged to court accordingly.
