A well-known broadcast journalist from Imo State has been arrested by the police

On Thursday morning in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, a group of policemen arrested the well-known broadcast journalist, Chinonso Uba, who is popularly known as NonsoNkwa.

The arrest occurred after Uba had just concluded his morning program on Ozisa FM, located near the Assumpta Cathedral of the Owerri Catholic Archdiocese. While driving his Highlander jeep, he was intercepted and apprehended by the police who had been laying in wait, strategically positioned near the junction of Holy Ghost College Secondary School.

An eyewitness informed our correspondent that the policemen conducted the operation using a Hilux vehicle, a Lexus 350 Jeep, and an ES 330 car.

According to the source, the operatives forcefully took the activist journalist and quickly sped away in one of their vehicles.

His own vehicle was left abandoned at the scene.

The source revealed, "NonsoNkwa has been abducted. Masked men in three vehicles intercepted him as he left Ozisa FM after concluding his morning program. They tracked him to the junction of Holy Ghost College Secondary School, where they apprehended him."

"He resisted fiercely, shouting that they intended to harm him before they forcefully took him away in one of their vehicles. Fortunately, they left his jeep behind. The individuals were clad in black and blue attire, concealing their identities with masks, and brandishing guns. They made sure no one could record the incident on video. Please, let's hope for his safety," the source added.

The manager of Ozisa FM, Rev Fr Raymond Nzereogu, confirmed the incident, stating that the journalist was arrested by some policemen. He also mentioned that he visited the police command headquarters and saw the journalist in their custody.
