Naomi all set to return to Ile Ife palace as elders from both families thrash out reconciliation deal

OLORI Naomi Silekunola has returned to Ile-Ife as the wife of the Ooni following the intervention of numerous Yoruba elders including her own local traditional ruler the Deji of Akure with her mother apologising for the recent outburst.

Last week, Naomi publicly ended her marriage to the monarch saying she could not cope with the king’s disposition. In a damning tweet, announcing that she was leaving the palace, Queen Naomi revealed that the king’s public image and his private persona were totally different and she was moving on.

In what became embarrassing for the Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, this is the second wife he would be divorcing since he ascended the throne. As a result, efforts were intensified to reconcile the couple with the elders in Akure where Naomi hails from leading talks, with the local monarch the Deji of Akure serving as the go-between.

Over the last week, there has been a lot of talk about the excesses of Queen Naomi’s relatives, especially her mother and brother. However, elders from both families met in Akure, the Ondo State capital where Olori Naomi is from and where she relocated to and appeared to thrash out a deal.

One of the elders, Prince Eniola Olajuni, said that Queen Naomi’s mother had also asked for forgiveness, although details of that were not given. It appears that the deal involved her apologising for her behaviour that started all this in the first place.

Prince Olajuni wrote: “Battle is over. Ooni of Ife and Queen Naomi Ogunwusi settle as Akure and Ile-Ife elders meet the family this evening, as Queen Naomi Ogunwusi’s mother apologises.”
