Lawmaker in Kaduna State House of Assembly shot dead by bandits on the outskirts of Zaria

ARMED hoodlums have killed the member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Giwa West Constituency Hon Rilwanu Aminu Gadagau shooting him dead during an attack at Kofar Gayan on the outskirt of Zaria.

Hon Gadagau was travelling to Kaduna from Zaria when the attack took place, with gunmen opening fire around 8pm last night, shooting sporadically at vehicles in order to immobilise them and abduct passengers. Apparently, Hon Gadagau was shot hit by a bullet during the attack and gave up the ghost around 10pm.

One eyewitness said: “They kidnapped many travellers, some fled, while others were shot at. It will be difficult to determine the number of those killed or abducted.”

Hon Gadagau was chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Rural Development, in the Kaduna State House of Assembly. An official of the Kaduna State House of Assembly confirmed the development and lawmakers are currently said to be in a state of mourning.
