Some waste contractors in Lagos State have raised their service fees, citing a rise in the price of diesel and an increase in the exchange rate, which they claim has increased the cost of truck spare parts.
Diesel, which was sold for N255 in 2021, is now sold between N770 and N820, according to a circular issued by one of the contractors, Excellent Links Int’l Co.
Another circular sent to customers by TUNAP waste company, dated September 19, and signed by Tosin Odewole, stated, “Due to the recent increase in the price of diesel, which has risen from N255 per litre to over N800 per litre as of today, and the high exchange rate, which has affected the prices of various spare parts of our trucks, we are constrained to increase our service charge to your facilities as stated below:
“A room costs N900 per month; a self-contained unit costs N1,750 per month; a domestic shop costs N1,000 per month; a flat costs N2,000 per month; and a duplex costs N3,500 per month.”
“The new rate will go into effect on November 1, 2022.”
