Kaduna fixes October 19 for LG election

The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission has set October 19, 2024 as the election date for the state's 23 Local Government Areas.

KADSIECOM chairperson Hajara Mohammed announced the date and timeline on Tuesday during a meeting with political parties and other stakeholders in the State.

She stated that the present council members were sworn in on November 1, 2021, and will complete their three-year term on October 31, 2021.

She stated that KAD-SIECOM is in charge of organising the state's chairman, vice-chairperson, and councillor elections.

"In accordance with Section 25(1) of the KAD-SIECOM Law 2024, the general public is hereby notified that the LGA council election will be held in Kaduna on Saturday, October 19, 2024, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m."

"The commission issues the election timetable today, Tuesday 16th July 2024," she informed me.

The chairwoman also stated that the 2024 election guidelines, as well as the election timetable, have been announced.


She informed concerned parties that the commission was prepared to hold the election on the scheduled date.
