Hillary Clinton joins Bluesky amid growing shift from X

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has joined Bluesky, a significant move as high-profile political figures consider alternatives to X.

Her arrival comes after former President Barack Obama published his first post on the platform last week. Clinton confirmed the authenticity of her Bluesky account in an Instagram story and a post on X.

In her first post, Clinton mentioned the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, which takes place on Tuesday. The race has sparked unprecedented national interest because it could influence decisions on key issues such as abortion rights, redistricting, and other policies in the pivotal swing state.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, allegedly donated more than $20 million to Republican candidate Brad Schimel's campaign. He previously contributed approximately $250 million to former President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign. Musk reportedly issued two $1 million checks to Schimel voters, using a strategy similar to his previous political contributions.

As Musk's involvement in conservative politics grows, Bluesky has gained popularity as an alternative social media platform for those who are dissatisfied with X's ideological shift. Though Bluesky's user base is still smaller than that of X, the open-source network now has more than 33 million users.

Bluesky's presence as a viable competitor in the social media landscape has grown stronger with the addition of figures such as Clinton and Obama.
