NIGCOMSAT partners IT firm to upgrade facilities
Nigerian Communication Satellite Limited has taken another step to improve its services by upgrading its technology to cutting-edge standards.This development comes as the company enters into a cooperation deal with Dimension Data, a leading provider of information technology solutions.
According to a press statement shared with our correspondent on Monday, the Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT Limited, Mrs Jane Egerton-Idehen, stated that the upgrading will allow the firm to provide outstanding services to its clients.
"We have upgraded our facility to cutting-edge technology, and we are confident that we can compete favourably in the global satellite market," she further stated.
NIGCOMSAT will supply Dimension Data with internet services on its NigComSat-1R network platform for an initial duration of one year under the cooperation agreement, which was inked in Lagos on Friday.
The arrangement is part of the company's aim to establish itself as a leading participant in the satellite business.
Egerton-Idehen expressed confidence in the cooperation, adding that NIGCOMSAT has completed a successful trial project with Dimension Data and signed a Master Service Agreement.
"We are glad that Dimension Data is happy with the results of our pilot, and we are committed to ensuring that our service delivery is excellent, our infrastructure reliable, and our technology continuous," she told me.
Mr Olugbenga Olabiyi, Country Director of Dimension Data, also commented on the collaboration, noting that his firm was committed to developing innovative and tailored IT solutions for its clients.
"We are committed to delivering services that are value-driven, and we believe that our partnership with NIGCOMSAT will help us achieve this goal," he told reporters.
The update and partnership are part of the Nigerian government's aim to encourage digital transformation and inclusiveness in the country's economy. Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has led projects to improve connectivity and promote digital inclusiveness.
With updated technology and a cooperation with Dimension Data, NIGCOMSAT is well-positioned to contribute significantly to the government's digital economy aspirations.
She stated: "We are not late to the market, and we are committed to taking our rightful position in the global satellite industry."
