Chief Chukwuemeka Eze of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has urged Governor Nyesom Wike to keep his promise to Nigerians during the Peoples Democratic Party presidential primaries in Abuja to support whoever emerges.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Eze recalled Wike’s promise to support whoever becomes the PDP’s candidate for the 2023 elections.
According to him, Governor Wike said this voluntarily to demonstrate his loyalty and commitment to the umbrella party’s goal of winning the 2023 presidential election.
He said this in response to Wike’s recent threat to expose some recent PDP happenings following the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s, interview on national television.
Eze, an ally of former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, dismissed the Governor and his cohorts as mere busybodies, claiming that nothing under the sun was apparently new about the PDP and Atiku Abubakar.
“Is he (Wike) going to tell us that he never squandered Rivers State funds on the PDP Presidential ticket, in which he was thoroughly defeated?” he asked.
“Or is he going to tell us that he was never mobilized to be appointed as the PDP’s Vice Presidential Candidate?” Or is Wike going to tell us that he never promised to support the PDP presidential candidate?
“In case he has forgotten, he should watch the video of his speech, in which he thundered and vowed to support, ‘to the fullest,’ whoever emerges as PDP flagbearer.
“I advised Wike to keep quiet and accept his fate, as his previous actions and unwarranted and unguided utterances were major factors in his failure to secure the PDP presidential ticket or become the vice presidential candidate to the PDP presidential flagbearer.”
