A man identified only as Abba was shot dead by gunmen who attacked the Shola Quarters satellite community in Katsina town on Sunday morning.
During the attack, the gunmen reportedly injured two inhabitants of the village and kidnapped a young couple.
According to residents, the gunmen invaded the hamlet on Saturday evening and began operating on Sunday morning.
It was discovered that the shooters killed Abba, who was thought to be a member of the community’s vigilante group.
Residents further stated that those injured were fortunate to have escaped death because the gunmen were shooting indiscriminately.
“The shooters arrived in our community on Saturday evening and interacted with locals,” one resident said, requesting anonymity.
“They began their operation around 1 a.m. and shot indiscriminately.” We phoned security personnel, who arrived after the gunmen had completed their mission and left the neighborhood. The gunmen assassinated Abba, a vigilante member. They also kidnapped a husband and wife and harmed two others. We can’t count the objects taken from our community right now because we’re too busy preparing for Abba’s funeral.”
When reached, SP Gambo Isah, spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, stated, “Our operatives are still on the ground there.” We will provide you with more information as soon as possible.”
According to NIGERIANWATCH, militants raided Shola’s neighborhood about a month ago and kidnapped some people, one of whom reportedly paid three million nairas to assure his liberation from them (the terrorists).
