Glasgow Rangers fans eulogise Joe Aribo after he scores wonder solo goal in Europa league game

SUPER Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo is now the star attraction of Glasgow as he is being hero-worshipped by Rangers fans after scoring a solo wonder goal in last night’s Europa League clash with Sporting Braga of Portugal that enabled his side to win the match 3-2.

Aribo, 23, arrived at Ibrox in the summer from English Championship side Charlton Athletic and after a mixed start finally settled into the side. Yesterday, he was on the bench in the first leg of the  Europa League knockout game against Braga but came on in the 54th minute and scored a sensational equaliser that then allowed Rangers to go on and win the match.

Starting poorly, Rangers went two goals down before Romanian striker Ianis Hagi pulled one back in the 67th minute. Stepping up to the plate after receiving a lot of criticism lately, Aribo lifted the roof off the stadium in the 75th minute when he danced past four defenders to score a brilliant solo goal.

This lifted the crowd and Rangers players, providing them with the impetus to then go on and win the game thanks to an 82nd winner from Hagi. Rangers fans have taken to social media to heap praise on the two players, heralding Aribo’s goal saying that if someone like Lionel Messi had scored it, there would be no end to how many times it was talked about.

However, Braga’s two goals could still help them qualify as 1-0 home win next week would see Rangers dumped out of the competition but nonetheless , the fans at Ibrox are savouring the victory. Since returning from the winter break, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has seen his team slip 10 points behind Celtic in the race for the title, so yesterday’s win gave the club a much-needed lift.

Aribo, who came on at left back, has described his equaliser against Braga as the most important goal of his career till date. Now a key member of the Super eagles, Aribo is enjoying a fine debut campaign at Rangers with eight goals in 37 matches across all competitions so far.
