FILES containing the case of Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo’s aides have gone missing in Abuja after armed robbers attacked a vehicle owned by the Department of State Service (DSS) conveying them to court.
On July 1, Mr Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, fled Nigeria after his Ibadan home was raided by security forces who killed two of his aides and arrested a further 13. Mr Igboho subsequently turned up in Benin Republic but was arrested at Cotonou airport while he was trying to board a plane to Germany.
He has since been charged with several immigration offences by the Beninoise authorities with the Nigerian ambassador to Benin desperately trying to get him extradited. At the hearing of the case of his aides in Abuja today, Barrister Awo, the DSS counsel told the federal high court, Abuja, that the case file containing the enforcement application filed by Mr Igboho’s aides was stolen by armed robbers.
Barrister Awo told Justice Obiora Egwuatu that his colleague, who was conveying the document to the court, boarded a vehicle belonging to some criminals who carted away the file and other personal items. He therefore applied for adjournment of the hearing.
