The reason for the prompt burial of Mohbad - Father
Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has shed light on the swift burial of his son, who tragically passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, with the funeral taking place the following day.
In a recent interview shared by Temilola Sobola (@TemilolaSobola) on Instagram, Aloba attributed the quick burial to Yoruba culture. He explained that it is customary not to delay the burial of a deceased person when both parents are still alive. He also mentioned that if Mohbad had passed away at an older age, the option of keeping his body in a mortuary for a later date might have been considered.
Aloba went on to reveal that the land where his son was laid to rest was originally owned by Mohbad, and he had given it to him to build a church. He emphasized that the decision to conduct the burial swiftly was in line with Yoruba customs and traditions.
"In Yoruba culture, it is not customary to keep a person's remains when both of their parents are still alive," he explained.
"That particular piece of land where Mohbad was interred is the only land I know of that belonged to him," he continued. "Indeed, he had generously offered me the land to construct my church, as we had previously agreed to build it there. It's the sole land that I knew him to possess."
Mohbad, formerly signed to Marlian Music, a record label owned by Naira Marley, parted ways with the label in February 2022.
On Monday, Mohbad's management team announced a candlelight procession and tribute night in honor of the late artist, scheduled for Thursday (tomorrow). Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Lagos State Governor extended an invitation to the Department of Security Services (DSS) to participate in the investigation of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.
