The Reasons Behind Producers Venturing into Singing - Fiokee
Renowned Nigerian music producer and guitarist, Ifiok Effanga, widely known as Fiokee, has shed light on the motivations behind the growing shift of music producers towards becoming singers themselves.
He attributed this trend to the fact that producers often do not receive sufficient recognition and financial rewards for their contributions.
Fiokee, who has transitioned from being a producer to a singer, shared these insights during a recent interview with Hip TV.
Fiokee commented, "The reason many producers are transitioning to become singers, in my view and based on my experiences, is due to the lack of recognition they deserve. At times, their popularity surpasses the financial rewards they receive. It's like they're more famous than the funds in their accounts.
"As I always say, the government seems to have a distaste for our generation because of our intellect. A similar sentiment applies to artists; they are wary of producers who exhibit wisdom. When producers strive to elevate their craft, they are perceived as a threat because it's understood that as they mature, they become less controllable. However, this dynamic shouldn't be the case. As you progress, ideally, I should progress alongside you. Yet, artists tend to outgrow producers. So, everyone is realizing the need for change."
