Rema emerged victorious in a category that included nominees like Asake, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, Aya Nakamura, and himself. Unfortunately, Burna Boy lost in three categories, including "Best Afrobeats." The 'Best African Act' award went to Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, and the "Best Collaboration" category was won by Jung Kook and Latto for 'Seven.' Additionally, Taylor Swift led the winners with three awards.

On a different note, Wizkid announced on Instagram that he plans to take a break from the music scene for four or five years. He expressed consideration for playing football or golf during this time. This isn't the first time Wizkid has announced a break from music; he previously made a similar announcement in 2019.
