Efik body gives Nze Ndigbo in Calabar seven days to leave the city for insulting the Obong

EFIK socio-cultural group Nka Ikemesit Mkparawa Essien Efik Duob-Eba has given the head of the local Igbo community in Calabar the Eze Ndigbo seven days to leave the city after for insulting the local traditional ruler the Obong of Calabar.

In a development that portends a dangerous breakdown in community relations Nka Ikemesit Mkparawa Essien Efik Duob-Eba has sent its order to the Eze Ndigbo in writing. Apparently, Nka Ikemesit Mkparawa Essien Efik Duob-Eba operates from the palace of the Obong of Calabar, making the threat very poignant.

A statement from the cultural group, signed by its chairman, Ekpo Ekeng, vice chairman Adim Ekpenyong Adim, secretary Ekpenyong Bassey Ekpenyong and assistant secretary Christy Edem Bassey Edem, protested the  insult meted out to the Obong of Calabar by the Eze Ndigbo. It said the Eze Ndigbo claimed to be the Obong of Calabar whereas he is not.

“For insulting the Obong of Calabar, calling yourself or making yourself the Obong of Calabar, when the Obong of Calabar is on the throne, we give you seven days to leave the town,” the statement read. Apparently, the incident occurred at an event on March 27 when an award was given to Innoson Motors at the University of Calabar.
