A bricklayer has been charged with recording a naked lady and demanding N20,000.
Ifedayo Mohammed, a bricklayer, has been charged in a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ondo town, Ondo State, for filming a woman, Faith Ogunyemi, naked without her consent.
The 32-year-old defendant is accused of committing the crime in May 2022 on Ore-Of Street, Ile-Oluji, the capital of the state’s Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Area.
He was detained and charged with three counts of public peace violation.
The defendant was accused of recording the lady’s nakedness with his phone and afterward demanding N20,000 from her.
The charges read, “That you, Mohammed Ifedayo, and three others at large, on May 23, 2022, around 10am on Ore-Ofe Street, Ile-Oluji, in the Ile-Oluji Magisterial District, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by taking nude video of one Faith Ogunyemi without her consent, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
“That you, Mohammed Ifedayo, on June 9, 2022, between 6am and 6pm, on Ore-Ofe Street, Ile-Oluji, in the Ile-Oluji Magisterial District, did unlawfully have in your possession the nude video of one Faith Ogunyemi, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 430(1) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Vol. 1 Laws of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant entered a not guilty plea to the allegations.
Mr. Anthony Akinbinu, the defense attorney, petitioned for bail on favorable conditions.
Mrs. Mosunmola Ikujuni, the magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one reliable surety in the same amount.
She rescheduled the trial for July 14, 2022.
