Birmingham City eye Josh Maja for next season part of a Premier League promotion drive

ENGLISH Championship side Birmingham City have signified an interest in signing one-cap Super Eagles striker Josh Maja at the end of the season as part of a push to launch a Premiership promotion drive.

Birmingham City are currently sitting 20th in the Championship table, with no hope whatsoever of gaining promotion this season. However, Birmingham is the UK’s second largest city and Birmingham has a rich history behind it, including once winning the European Fairs Cup.

Hoping to recover some of its lost glory, Birmingham City is looking to sign the former Sunderland player as they look to him to boost their chances next season. Maja is currently on loan at Stoke City from Bordeaux and has had an average performance for the Potters.

In 17 games so far this season, the attacker has scored two goals and provided assists for three for Stoke City who have an option to making loan deal permanent. Maja was recently given a standing ovation in Stoke City’s win over Queens Park Rangers after a difficult few months at the club.

Maja earned a Super Eagles call-up in 2019 and featured as a substitute in the 2-2 draw against Ukraine. He was a teammate to Super Eagles and Watford winger, Samuel Kalu at Bordeaux and was also at Fulham on loan last season.
