NLC President Ajaero: Arrested by Police, Assaulted by Thugs in Imo

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, recounted his harrowing experience in Imo State during a planned protest on workers' conditions. Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Ajaero revealed that he was arrested by police in Imo State, who subsequently handed him over to thugs.

According to Ajaero, he was severely beaten by the thugs, who dragged him on the ground. The assault occurred after the police arrested him, and he described being tied up and treated like a common criminal. Additionally, he mentioned that workers who arrived early at the protest venue were also beaten, with their phones seized by the thugs.

Ajaero clarified that he is not a card-carrying member of the Labour Party (LP) or any other political party, dispelling certain claims in that regard.
