London Sword Attack: Federal Government Offers Condolences to Daniel Anjorin’s Family
The Federal Government has extended its condolences to the family of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, who tragically died in a sword attack in London on Tuesday.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), described the incident on Thursday as "unfortunate, sad, and gruesome."
In a statement signed by NiDCOM's spokesperson, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased and the Nigerian communities in the UK, offering prayers for the soul of young Daniel, whose life was cut short on Tuesday.
She also expressed confidence that appropriate measures would be taken to ensure the perpetrator, who is already in police custody, faces justice, the statement concluded.
Anjorin is a student at Bancroft's private school in Woodford Green.
The suspect, Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, appeared in court to face charges connected to Anjorin's murder.
Monzo is facing a range of charges, including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed weapon.
Four people, including two Metropolitan Police officers, were injured during the incident on Tuesday.
Monzo, aged 36, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court today and was remanded in custody.
He is set to remain in custody until his next appearance at the Old Bailey, which is scheduled for Tuesday, unless an additional hearing is set for Friday.
