Husband Fatally Stabs Wife in Ondo
Akure—A 30-year-old man, Fatai Abdullahi, allegedly stabbed his wife, Morenike, to death following a minor argument in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The suspect reportedly stabbed his wife with scissors following the argument. According to police sources, the crime occurred on March 27, 2024.
The state police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, said: “A complainant reported that she left the deceased and her husband at home on 26/03/2024 to attend church early in the morning. Upon her return later that same day, the husband announced that his wife had died."
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and his late wife, Olayode Morenike, frequently argued over her visits to check on the child from her previous marriage. After killing her, the suspect took photos of the body and locked the corpse in the house until late at night before raising the alarm.
"Further investigation showed that the deceased had injuries on her stomach and neck, likely caused by stabbing.
"A pair of scissors with blood stains, suspected to have been used in the crime, was recovered from the scene. The suspect is in custody and will soon face charges in court.
