Governor Uzodinma's U-Turn: Forgiving 935 Civil Servants with Double Salaries

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has reversed his earlier stance on punishing civil servants implicated in the double salary scandal, following revelations that 935 individuals had fraudulently received double salaries for the past decade through the government's salary automation system.

Governor Uzodinma made this announcement during a conversation with the parish priest of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Nkwo Emeke, in Emekukwu of Owerri North Local Government Area. The governor was attending the 65th birthday celebration of Sir Jude Ejiogu, where he explained that the civil servants who had been complaining about not receiving their salaries had omitted crucial details.

He clarified that those still awaiting payment were actually part of the automated salary system but had been caught receiving double salaries for the past ten years. Governor Uzodinma expressed his gratitude for attending the Thanksgiving Mass at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and acknowledged the insights shared by the parish priest. He emphasized the need for transparency and honesty in addressing such issues and announced his decision to forgo the prosecution of the offenders, opting instead for a resolution process to ensure that those affected receive their rightful salaries.
