Air Peace raises Lagos-Abuja ticket price to N200,000

Starting November 1, 2024, a one-way flight from Lagos to Abuja on Air Peace will cost N200,000.

The difficult economic conditions have pushed airlines to boost their fares, causing some Nigerians to switch from air travel to road transit.

According to The Punch, recent investigations found that Air Peace's new fare is the highest among domestic airlines, representing major industry rises.

Air Peace sells one-way flights from Lagos to Abuja for N200,000 and upwards, while Aero costs between N94,000 and N109,000. Arik Air's rates range from N104,405 to N139,292, while Ibom Air's prices range from N124,000 to N133,000.

These skyrocketing costs have left many people stranded at airports, unable to get flights, particularly on the congested Lagos-Abuja route, where demand outstrips available seats.

The major routes, Lagos-Abuja and Abuja-Lagos, are particularly affected, as many people struggle to acquire seats.

An anonymous Air Peace official acknowledged the fare rise, citing Nigeria's growing economic woes.

"Just as we all know, all these killing taxes go to the government, and businesses especially airlines have been left with no choice other than to do this, it is what it is," according to an unidentified official.

Attempts to reach Air Peace's Chief Operating Officer, Toyin Olajide, were fruitless since she did not return calls or text messages.
