Adeleke vows to rejuvenate the entertainment sector
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has affirmed his administration's commitment to revitalize the declining entertainment industry within the state. During the launch of an app for voting in 'The Most Popular Celebrity Award' project in the Osogbo area, the governor emphasized the importance of the entertainment sector as a significant revenue-generating avenue for the state.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Bankole Ojo, Governor Adeleke fondly recalled the pioneering contributions of notable figures like the late Duro Ladipo, Karim Adepoju (Baba Wande), late Yekini Ajileye, late Oyin Adejobi, late Kola Ogunmola, and others who significantly impacted the entertainment industry in the country.
Acknowledging the national and international recognition brought by many Osun-born entertainers, the governor expressed his administration's strategic plan to rejuvenate the industry, aiming for enhanced productivity and continued success.
He remarked, "I fondly recall the contributions of esteemed individuals such as the late Duro Ladipo, Alhaji Karim Adepoju (‘Baba Wande’), the late Alhaji Yekini Ajileye, the late Oyin Adejobi, the late Kola Ogunmola, Prince Antar Laniyan, and Bolaji Amusan (Latin), among many others. These individuals, as proud indigenes of Osun, played a pivotal role in garnering national and international acclaim for the state within the theater industry.
Our administration is fully committed to resurrecting the waning glory of the entertainment industry in the state. Recognizing the entertainment sector as a potent source of both renown and substantial revenue, we are determined to breathe new life into it for the benefit of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole."
According to a statement released by Tobiloba Taiwo-Awofadeju, the Information Officer of the Osun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and obtained in Osogbo on Sunday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Mr. Tope Omitogun, and the Project Coordinator of 'The Most Popular Celebrity Awards,' Mr. Solanke Hamzat, separately commended Adeleke for his support of the initiative during the event.
