Adeleke accuses Ganduje of plotting to destabilise S’West

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed strong concerns about the National President of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, being a threat to democracy. This comes after Ganduje's statement about seizing Osun in 2026, following the APC's victory in the Ondo State governorship election ¹.

Adeleke accused Ganduje of undermining President Bola Tinubu's position by stoking regional tensions ahead of the 2027 elections. He emphasized that Ganduje's comments contradict Tinubu's democratic values and disregarded the importance of local factors in shaping electoral outcomes.

The governor pointed out that Ganduje's own experience in Kano, where the Kwankwasiyya group outperformed his faction despite his eight years in office, should serve as a lesson. Adeleke questioned why Ganduje thinks Osun residents would allow their will to be disregarded in 2026, considering Osun's strong tradition of resisting electoral fraud and valuing political freedom ¹.

Adeleke also highlighted that many opposition members have recently joined the ruling party, strengthening the PDP's position in Osun. He emphasized that Ganduje doesn't have the mandate from President Tinubu to ignite conflicts in the South West.

It's worth noting that this development is part of a broader political landscape in Nigeria, where regional dynamics and party affiliations play significant roles. The situation underscores the complex relationships between political leaders and the importance of democratic values in shaping the country's future.
