Real Madrid making progress on Alexander-Arnold transfer
According to reports on Tuesday, Trent Alexander-Arnold is close to joining Real Madrid when his contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season. The defender has long been linked with a free transfer to the Bernabeu, and negotiations between the 26-year-old and the Spanish club are said to be progressing.
The England international, who came through Liverpool's youth ranks and has been with the Premier League club for over two decades, has been able to negotiate contracts with foreign clubs since January.
Alexander-Arnold debuted for Liverpool at the age of 18 in 2016.
The right-back has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup with his hometown club and is on track to win a second league title this season, with Arne Slot's side currently 12 points clear at the top of the table.
Alexander-Arnold is one of three key Liverpool players whose contracts expire at the end of the season, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk's futures still uncertain.
Alexander-Arnold is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, and he missed Liverpool's League Cup final loss to Newcastle earlier this month.
Liverpool declined to comment on the reports.
