Osimhen Secures 2023 AIC Serie A Player of the Year Honor
Napoli striker and Super Eagles player, Victor Osimhen, has been formally named the Footballer of the Year by the Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC).
Osimhen received the award at a ceremony held on Monday, December 4, 2023.
By winning this accolade, Osimhen joins the prestigious list of recipients, including Rafael Leao, Gianluigi Buffon, Cristiano Ronaldo, Andrea Prilo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
His outstanding achievement in scoring 26 goals in 32 league appearances played a significant role in Napoli clinching the Serie A title last season. Osimhen's contributions marked a historic moment as he became the first African player to claim the top scorer title in the Italian topflight, securing Napoli's first league title since 1990.
Furthermore, at the award night, several of Osimhen's Napoli teammates were acknowledged in various categories.
Despite facing challenges at the start of the 2023-24 season and recent injury setbacks, Osimhen has displayed resilience by scoring six goals in 10 games.
