Tinubu unveil 125km Benin-Asaba Highway

On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu unveiled the 125-kilometer Benin-Asaba Highway, which is expected to be completed within 30 months.

Tinubu was represented at the unveiling by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Okpebholo stated that the road is a legacy project, and that Edo State is now developing infrastructure in the same way that Lagos does.

He thanked the President for his love for Edo State during his tenure as governor.

He stated, "The President loves Edo State so much that whenever he sees me, he always asks about the well-being of the Edo people as well as the Oba of Benin.

"The good things happening in Lagos are now also happening here in Edo State and we have made progress under my watch as governor."

"We once had a president from this region who didn't remember us. Edo is a national gateway, and when the roads are bad, the state's economy suffers as well.

Okpebholo thanked the president for his vision for the nation, stating that the people are reaping the benefits of democracy as a result of the positive initiatives launched by his administration.

Dave Umahi, Minister of Works, praised Okpebholo's visionary leadership, claiming that in less than 150 days in office, he had transformed the state into a construction site.

The minister also thanked Tinubu for his love for the people of Edo State, noting that as a minister, he had visited the state three times for projects.

He also praised Okpebholo, saying he has demonstrated love and commitment to his people by taking on people-oriented projects such as the flypast at Ramat Park in Benin City, the state capital.

Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, thanked the president for his foresight in ensuring that Nigerians have access to good roads throughout the country, assuring them that the funds for the project are available; thus, the projects from start to finish are certain.

Sheriff Oborevwori, the governor of Delta State, thanked the president for what he is doing for the people of Edo and Delta State, and urged him to extend the road to Onitsha Bridge.

Oborevwori, represented by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, stated that the road is a critical piece of infrastructure connecting Nigeria's Eastern and Western regions.

He stated that the road would improve people's standard of living and urged everyone to work together to ensure its successful completion.
