Power Outages Hit 18 Communities in Edo and Oyo States

Technical issues have resulted in power outages affecting a minimum of 18 communities in Edo and Oyo states. Additionally, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company has declared a power interruption in Bayelsa to facilitate the replacement of a malfunctioning circuit breaker. 

Furthermore, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company Plc has informed customers in 11 communities about the ongoing outage, attributing it to damage to essential power infrastructure in those areas. The BEDC management stated that their technical team is actively engaged in repairing the damage and is committed to restoring power supply to the affected regions.

We wish to notify our esteemed customers residing in Upper Lawani, Costain, Universal, New Benin, Okhoro, Owoseni, Akugbe, Mission Road, Uteh Community, Edokpolor, Eweka, and surrounding areas that the current power outage is due to damage to crucial power infrastructure serving these locations.

"Our dedicated technical team is diligently working to rectify the issue and restore power supply to the affected areas.

"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding during this period," the statement conveyed.

Additionally, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has issued a notice to residents of seven communities in Oyo, stating, "Please be informed that due to a technical fault on the Lalupon 33kV feeder, the following areas: Iyana Church, Oki, Wakajaye, Olootu, Wound, Maku, Jinarere, and surroundings are currently without power.

"Our technical team is actively working towards a prompt restoration of power supply. We apologize for any inconvenience caused."

Similarly, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company has communicated that there is an outage at the Yenagoa 132KV Transmission Station for the replacement of a faulty circuit breaker. The DisCo has further noted that customers in Bayelsa will experience a suspension of supply during the maintenance period.

We guarantee residents in these regions that power supply will be reinstated promptly upon completion of the work. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences.

The Nigerian populace has been contending with reduced power supply attributed to gas companies withholding gas from power-generating entities due to outstanding debts. Despite assurances from the Federal Government regarding resolution, the power sector has not returned to normalcy for the past two months.
