Ogbonnaya Onu, former Minister of Science and Technology, has passed away
Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant in the 2023 election and the first civilian governor of Abia State, has passed away in Abuja on Thursday. The details surrounding his death are still unclear at the time of this report, but it is known that the APC stalwart had been grappling with an undisclosed illness.
Onu made his final significant public appearance during the APC primary election in 2022, where he spoke out against perceived injustices towards the people of Southeast Nigeria.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Onu as the Minister of Science and Technology in November 2015.
However, Onu resigned from his ministerial position on May 6, 2022, to contest in the APC presidential race, where he ultimately lost to President Bola Tinubu.
