Lagos to investigate fire incident at Household of David Church

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has revealed that the state government will initiate an inquiry to determine the causes of the recent fire incident at the Household of David Church in the Ikeja Local Government Area.

Ololade Agboola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, mentioned on Thursday that a committee, including church members, will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the unfortunate incident, under the supervision of the state Fire and Rescue Service.

He highlighted that the firefighting teams in Alausa and Ikeja faced challenges due to the church's combustible materials, leading to the rapid and intense spread of the fire.

Margaret Adeseye, the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, assured the church of the agency's commitment to investigating the cause and implementing preventive measures throughout the state.

A section of the statement reads, "In response to the recent fire incident at the Household of David Church, a delegation from the Lagos State Government, led by Hon. Gbenga Oyerinde, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, accompanied by Margaret Adeseye, Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, visited the scene at 7 Surulere Industrial Road, off Adeniyi Jones, Ogba-Ikeja, today."

"The main purpose of the visit was to assess the extent of the damage and conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire. Commissioner Oyerinde, representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed empathy to Assistant Pastor Damola Adesina, who graciously received the government team.

Oyerinde assured the church that a comprehensive inquiry into the unfortunate incident would be conducted by a committee of stakeholders, including church representatives, under the guidance of the State Fire and Rescue Service. This collaborative effort aims to prevent similar incidents in the future.
