Jimoh Ibrahim Withdraws Lawsuit Following Tinubu’s Intervention and Aiyedatiwa’s Plea

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has withdrawn the lawsuit he filed challenging Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 16 governorship poll in Ondo State.

Aiyedatiwa secured victory over Ibrahim and 14 other aspirants in the April 20 APC governorship primary in Ondo State. Despite alleging manipulation in the exercise, Aiyedatiwa had filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to nullify Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy and conduct a fresh poll.

In a surprising turn of events, Ibrahim decided to withdraw the suit. He cited the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a significant factor in his decision. Tinubu assured Ibrahim of improving internal democracy within the party and urged him to withdraw the case to allow for progress.

Acknowledging the significance of the President's intervention, Ibrahim stated, “I cannot disobey the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because the issue I am fighting for is not personal. It is simply to improve internal democracy to which the President has promised improvement. My respect for the President is absolute!"

Ibrahim's withdrawal coincides with Tinubu's first anniversary in office as President, which he referred to as a gift to mark the occasion.

Reacting to Ibrahim's decision, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation expressed appreciation for his gesture, recognizing the wisdom in opting for dialogue to resolve disputes. They emphasized the importance of unity and embracing the future with an open heart and clear vision for the development of Ondo State.

Similarly, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers commended Ibrahim for his decision, applauding his consideration of peaceful resolution over legal battles. They expressed readiness to work together towards serving the people of Ondo State and seeking their mandate in the upcoming election.
