Immigration Removes Border Movement Restrictions Between Nigeria and Niger

The Nigeria Immigration Service, under the leadership of Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap, has issued a directive to lift the restrictions on movement at the Nigeria-Niger border. This directive was conveyed in a statement signed by the Acting Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kenneth Kure, in Abuja on Thursday.

The directive from the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI) to lift the restrictions on movement at the Nigeria-Niger border aligns with the earlier order by the Federal Government to reopen the borders between the two countries. These borders were initially closed in compliance with the decision of ECOWAS.

In response to the directive from the Federal Government to reopen borders between Nigeria and Niger Republic, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has instructed all Comptrollers stationed at States and Border Commands along the Nigeria-Niger Republic border to promptly lift all restrictions on human movement. This decision comes after ECOWAS imposed sanctions on Niger Republic, including border closures, following the coup that ousted President Mahamed Bazoum. Nandap emphasized that the service will ensure safe and orderly border crossings while maintaining the integrity and security of Nigeria's borders.
