Heartbreaking Scene as Thieves Fatally Stab Final-Year ATBU Student
Bauchi is gripped with evident fury after the tragic death of Joseph Agbabaidu, a final-year student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), during a phone theft attempt.
As per the report, Agabaidu, a Geology Department student in his 500-level, was fatally stabbed by robbers around 7 p.m. on Saturday evening.
He was en route to his residence at Yelwan Tudu, located approximately one kilometer from the school gate, when a robbery gang attacked and stabbed him. Despite the efforts of healthcare professionals to save him, he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.
Following this tragic incident, we urge the school management, the police, and the Bauchi State government to prioritize and strengthen student security in the state. Our community should not bear the weight of such sorrow, and proactive measures are essential to prevent further tragedies.
An anonymous student expressed, "May the soul of Agabaidu Obiaje Joseph rest in peace."
In response to the incident, a student protest erupted in and around the school environment in the Yelwa area of Bauchi metropolis on Monday morning. However, police in patrol vehicles intervened to maintain law and order.
