Primeboy petitions Mohbad's widow over false claims

Primeboy, a childhood friend of the late singer Mohbad, whose real name is Ileriouluwa Aloba, has filed a police petition against Mohbad's widow, Wunmi, citing alleged false accusations and threats to his life.

Concerns have arisen publicly regarding the paternity of Mohbad's son, Liam, and the circumstances surrounding the singer's death at the age of 27.

Mohbad was signed under Marlian Records, owned by Naira Marley, also known as Afeez Fashola.

Following Mohbad's death, Marley and a well-known Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, were arrested and questioned by the Lagos State Police Command to provide information about Mohbad's demise.

Primeboy was issued a wanted notice by the state police command on October 4, 2023, and he surrendered himself two days later.

On March 12, Primeboy, accompanied by Ayobami Fisayo, also known as Spending, visited the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti.

As part of the bail terms in Mohbad's case, he was required to appear at the State CID every Tuesday to sign, as stated by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, to ensure he remained within reach and did not abscond.

At that time, Hundeyin stated that the Afro singer was called in for questioning regarding accusations of defamation of character and other claims outlined in a previous petition submitted by Wunmi.

However, Mohbad's family disputed the validity of the petition.

In a statement posted on his Instagram account on Friday, Primeboy challenged Wunmi to come forward and disclose the truth about her late husband's demise.

Sharing the petition on his Instagram, he wrote, "I warned you to cease mentioning my name... You disregarded it... Now it's time to reveal to the world the truth you claim to know about what led to your boyfriend's (Mohbad) death... Or be prepared to face the consequences!!!!!!!."

The petition, filed by Alexime Law Associates on behalf of the singer, was directed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos.

In the petition, Primeboy also accused Wunmi of utilizing SCID operatives to "intimidate and coerce into making false confessions of causing grievous bodily harm to Ilerioluwa Aloba (deceased) alias Mohbad."

The petition stated, "Petition against Omowunmii Adebanji (Aloba) for threats to life, false accusations, and employing personnel from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to intimidate and pressure Mr. Owodunsi Ibrahim (our client) into making false confessions of causing severe bodily harm to Ilerioluwa Aloba (deceased) alias Mohbad."

Petition filed against Inspector Muhammed of State CID Panti for alleged official misconduct, abuse of police authority, and an alleged attempt to obstruct justice, in violation of Section 92 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
