Actor Jimi Solanke passes away at the age of 81

Jimi Solanke, a seasoned actor and folk singer, has passed away. The renowned poet and playwright breathed his last on Monday at the age of 81.

Reports indicate that he died while being transported from his residence in Ipara Remo, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State, to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan, succumbing to the inevitability of death.

Chief Solanke had reportedly been in and out of the hospital since December, with his health deteriorating until his passing on Monday morning.

Honorable Dickson Awolaja, the representative for Remo North State Constituency at the state Assembly, confirmed the passing of the exceptionally talented artist to our correspondent.

Hon. Awolaja expressed, "I recently received information about the passing of Pa Jimi Solanke. Undoubtedly, his demise is yet another significant loss to us in Remo North and Ogun State as a whole, considering his valuable contributions to the development of our beloved nation. May his soul rest in peace."

Pa Jimi Solanke was renowned for his notable works such as "Kongi’s Harvest," "Sango," "Shadow Parties," and more. He was affectionately known as Uncle Jimi.
