The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has unveiled plans to generate thousands of jobs through initiatives such as a certified installer/maintenance program for Starlink and collaborating with local hardware startups to manufacture repeater boxes. This announcement was made during a meeting with Ryan Goodnight, Senior Director of Global Licensing and Activation at SpaceX, on the sidelines of the ongoing International Telecommunication Union-World Radio Communication Conference in Dubai.
Dr. Tijani, emphasizing Nigeria's status as Starlink's largest market in Africa, discussed connecting underserved populations and the potential for job creation with the SpaceX director. He shared this update on the meeting via a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the promising prospects for job opportunities and improved connectivity in the country.
